Courses are based on 4 week classes with a skilled instructor. We’ll immerse you in the art of ceramics! The first week you will learn all technical aspects of creating handbuilt pottery in addition to studio etiquette which includes everything from wedging your clay, to using a tools and saving your work. We’ll be building your vision through clay, learning to pinch slab and coil to create a shape. During the 3rd week we’ll be refining your art, learning to trim and attach (i.e. handles, appliques). The 4th week will be all about glazing your pots! This course is meant to prepare you to continue your clay journey at any studio- including ours.
Class size is limited to 5-10 students. During this session you can expect to make a few smaller items such as mugs and ring dishes, or a larger item, such as a vase or planter. We recommend starting this course prior to Wheel Throwing as you will have a greater understanding of using tools as well as the behavior and life cycle of your clay to aid in learning technique and skill needed for using a pottery wheel. Signing up for courses also provides the opportunity to join our membership waitlists to continue your clay journey.
Doors open 5 minutes before the start of class. Please check the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)for your questions prior to reaching out.
Please wear clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting mud on, we provide aprons! Please take the necessary precautions if you have any cuts or abrasions on your hands, and try to have short nails- handbuilding is more forgiving with longer nails and will be easier than Wheel Throwing if you keep your claws all-year round!
Attendees who arrive late may not be able to complete project and miss out on intro.
Workshops are non-refundable and rescheduling is only possible within one hour of booking.
